Yoga On Main, the oldest studio in the Philadelphia, has maintained a stellar reputation in providing Yoga related education since 1992. Yoga On Main is a "Yoga Alliance" certified school. The Yoga Alliance is the largest nationally recognized organization for the development of quality standards in Yoga Education and the certification of yoga schools and teachers. We teach traditional Hatha Yoga in a unique format called "Inner Fire Yoga." The Inner Fire philosophy is to make yoga accessible to all that may have an interest, and our approach is grounded in sound principles that make it a safe and healthy experience for all students. The Inner Fire Yoga system prepares teachers to meet the needs of a diverse range of students using a safe, supportive and time-tested methodology. This program provides our teacher training students with the ability to design classes that are extremely well rounded and yet flexible enough to modify classes in either more demanding or gentler direction to meet the needs of the students that show up. Specifics of the Training will include:
- A comprehensive survey of yoga postures, including: alignment, uses, benefits, adaptations, mechanics, sequencing & adjustments.
- An emphasis on teaching methodology, practical teaching experience including practicums with experienced teachers, and guidance on personal practice.
- Study of the science of breath (pranayama), purification techniques (kriyas), and energy seals (bandas).
- The practice and application of meditation (dhyana) and mantra repetition (japa).
- Yoga Philosophy including the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, the Vedas, Darshans, Upanishads and Vedanta.
- The exploration of physical and esoteric anatomy including an in-depth investigation into the human energy system of the chakras.
- The principles of Ayurveda and how to practice them as part of living a Yogic lifestyle. (One of the unique facets of the Inner Fire Yoga program.)

The cost of the program is just $2350. That is just about $12 per training hour, which is incredibly reasonable for a 200-hour program. We offer an optional payment programs to help spread out the cost over the 5 month period of the training. An example of this would be a deposit of $500 to register and then 3 additional payments of $500 on first of the month for the first 3 months of the program with a final payment of $350. We also offer a substantial DISCOUNT for early registrations, $250 off if you register by July 25th and $150 if you register by August 15th. We also offer 7 free classes to all our Teacher Training students and discounts to other programs during their Teacher Training Program experience.

Shiva Das (Jim McCabe) is the Managing Partner of Yoga On Main, which he has run since 2000. He has studied Yoga since 1987 and has been teaching since since 1995. His influences include the Integral Yoga Tradition of Swami Satchidananda, the Vinyi Yoga Tradition of Sri T. Krisnamacharya and his son T.K.V. Desikachar as well as work of David Frawley and Eric Shiffman. His primary teacher and Guru is the Great India Saint, Mata Amritanadamayi Devi, "Amma". Her primary direct is "LOVE and SERVE".
Shiva Das is co-creator of "Inner Fire Yoga" along with his business partner and Founder of Yoga On Main, David Newman. Shiva Das in collaboration with David and Senior Teacher, Ed Zadlo has developed Yoga On Main's highly recognized "Inner Fire Yoga Teacher Certification Programs". He has authored several Teacher Training Manuals, and is recognized as one of Philadelphia's premiere Yoga Instructors. He teaches regular weekly classes throughout the Philadelphia area as we as leads workshops and retreats throughout the world.
Ed Zadlo D.Ay (Acharya Premanand)Ed Zadlo D.Ay (Acharya Premanand) is a Certified Ayurveda Practitioner, Integral Yoga-Ayurveda Therapist and Acharya (expert teacher) of Yoga/Vedanta, Ayurveda and Vedic Dharma. He has had an Ayurveda practice for over 14 years, and has offered trainings in Ayurveda, Meditation and the Inner Practices of Yoga for over 25 years. He began his study of Ayurvedic Healing with Dr. David Frawley (Pundit Vamadeva Shastri) director of The American Institute of Vedic Studies in 1986, is also a graduate of their Ayurvedic Intensive Training, Yoga and Ayurveda Advanced Course and IYTA Teacher Training and was certified by Dr. Frawley in 2008 as an Ayurveda Yoga Acharya with 1200 hours of advanced Integral Yoga/Ayurveda study. He graduated from The New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine in 1996 where he also became a faculty member. He completed advanced clinical study at the Rishikesh College of Ayurveda in Rishikesh, India in 2000 and 2001. David Newman or Durga Das, as he is also known, is a Kirtan Chant Artist and a practitioner and educator of Bhakti Yoga - the Yoga of Love. David travels extensively singing Kirtan (Indian devotional chanting) and sharing the spiritual, meditative and musical aspects of Yoga. AmarJyothi (Bonnie Pariser) E-RYT 500, SYT is the founder, director and senior instructor at Yoga Loka in Frenchtown. She has practiced Yoga for more than 20 years and has taught Yoga for eight years. Bonnie completed her initial Yoga Teacher Training and her first Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training at Saraswati River Yoga with Kirin Mishra. She is certified as a Structural Yoga Therapist under the direction of Mukunda Stiles, a worldwide leader in the field of Therapeutic Yoga, and the author of the seminal book, "Structural Yoga Therapy." She has completed the first level Thai Yoga Massage training with Lotus Palm School in Montreal, Level one Reiki with Jacqui Crown, and is currently completing a three-year course of study in Kirin Mishra's Bhairavi Program. www.yoga-loka.com
Karen Fairman (RN, CHEd, Integrated Energy Therapy Master) brings over 25 years of nursing, holistic health care education, energy healing, and personal experience to this 12 hour course. She has previously taught anatomy and physiology at the secondary and post secondary levels. Her own musculoskeletal and systemic health issues led Karen to her dedicated yoga practice over 5 years ago, and this practice has been the key to her healing and continued health. With her background in yoga, physical healthcare, and psychiatric recovery education combined with energy healing, interfaith ministry, and counseling she is able to blend our body and mind experience and issues with the healing and spirit that yoga brings to our lives. She is passionate about the application and benefits of the science of yoga as a modality for healing the body, mind, and spirit.
Dr. Martin Orimenko is a licensed Chiropractor, Nutritionist and Naturopath. In order to gain a broad perspective on healing holistically, Dr. Martin has studied more than a dozen healing arts, including Ayurvedic Medicine, Acupuncture & Acupressure, Reiki and Breathwork with some of the top healers in this country and abroad. He is both technically skilled and highly intuitive. He has been in practice since 1990, and has treated over 5000 patients with a wide range of health conditions. Dr. Martin has had practices in St. Louis, MO and Sausalito, CA and is now in practice back in his native Pennsylvania.

This training combines a special focus on Ashtanga and Mysore style Yoga as well as Ayurveda, Anatomy and Physiology, Yoga Texts and philosophy. It includes an exploration of the Mysore style system of practice as well as how to adjust and/or modify the postures for all levels in the class. This program will be very powerful and informative as well as an experiential way to understand and be deeply involved in yogic views and lifestyle.
The Training will include:
- A comprehensive survey of yoga postures, including alignment mechanics, Primary Vinyasa and adjustments modification and soem second series posture adjustments if applicable.
- The practice and application of meditation (dhyana) and mantra repetition (japa).
- Study of the science of breath (pranayama), purification techniques (kriyas) and energy seals (bandhas).
- Yoga philosophy; the history and practical study of Yoga texts including the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita.
- Thorough exploration of physical and esoteric anatomy including an investigation into the human energy system of the chakras and nadis.
- Satsung: dialogue on the spiritual, metaphysical and practical teachings of Yoga.
- The health and healing science of Ayurveda.
- Devotional or Bhakti practice including repetitive chanting known as Kirtan.
- Emphasis on teaching methodology, practical teaching experience, guidance on personal practice and practicum with experienced teachers.

Primary Instructors
Mary Flinn (Maha Lakshmi)- Mary Flinn has been teaching Yoga for over 15 years, and has co-directed several yoga centers in NYC including The Kundalini Yoga Center of NY and Satya Yoga Center in Brooklyn NY. She has run numerous teacher training programs in Hatha and vinyasa yoga. Her daily practice has been Ashtanga yoga since 1997 and has been blessed by the Late Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and his Grandson Sharath Rangaswami to teach the first and second series of Ashtanga Yoga. Mary has studied Yoga philosophy and Pranayama with Dr. Shankaranarayan Jois in Mysore India as well as the teachers at Ananda Ashram in upstate NY for many years. She has taught internationally and was a guest teacher in Japan at the Tokyo Yoga conference in 2007. Mary co-directed Brooklyns’ ‘Energy Center’ Teacher Training programs in 2004 and 2005, and has also directed the training program at Satya Yoga in Brooklyn NY in 2006. She is grateful for the teachers in her life who have inspired her and transformed her life!
